BICA Introductory Course for Counsellors’ working in Licensed Treatment Centre’s or related settings

A course for counsellors who are working in Licensed Centres and are new to infertility counselling and also counsellors who are working with infertility issues in other relevant settings.

Friday 6th and Saturday 7th July 2012

Course aims:

• To provide an overview of the context and range of issues surrounding work with clients who are experiencing infertility
• To increase understanding of the impact of reproductive techniques
• To develop specialist knowledge and skills, learning from each other, aided by the different participants’ work settings
  To stimulate and support the interests of infertility counselling generally

The two days include:-

• Counselling in an HFEA Licensed Clinic
• The legislative and regularity framework
• Key regulatory principles for licensed centres
• Working in a multidisciplinary team
• The infertility journey
• The experience of loss and grief
• Gender differences
• Implications of treatment
• Welfare of the child
• Counsellors need for support
• The inspection process
• Providing, promoting & evaluating the counselling service
• BICA accreditation

Fees:

BICA members £250 or £230 early bird before 8/6/12
