This study day is for counsellors and therapists who want to increase their knowledge and skills in their work with clients affected by infertility.
We will give attention to:
• The meaning of fertility and reproduction for individuals/couples
• The impact on them when parenthood is difficult, or not possible, to achieve
• The broader context in which fertility treatment occurs
• The experience of assisted conception treatment
• The role of the counsellor in the licensed clinic
• The role of the counsellor working independently of the clinic
There will be presentations to cover essential information but the day will be interactive with discussion on a range of practice issues and dilemmas. Participants will have the opportunity to bring case studies of their own and to work in small groups.
A BICA certificate of attendance for CPD purposes will be given on completion of the workshop.
