Sexual Problems and Infertility (2011 fully revised and updated)

£10.95

Special Offer on BICA Publications - January/February Only"

This BICA Practice Guide was due to be re-issued in Autumn, 2010 but Jane Read* felt it needed a more comprehensive update and generously undertook this task. As a result, the Guide is now a more helpful tool to support counsellors working in the infertility field where psychosexual issues emerge very regularly.

The Guide includes –

• The incidence of sexual difficulties in the infertile population
• Types of sexual dysfunction
• Psychosexual therapeutic work in infertility settings – appropriateness and boundaries in a non-specialist setting
• Asking about sexual function
• Types of specialist intervention
• Recommended reading/references

*As many of you will already know, Jane Read is a Sexual and Relationship Psychotherapist who has worked in the areas of infertility, sexuality and relationships for over 30 years. Jane currently practises in Edinburgh. She also supervises experienced infertility counsellors working in licenced clinics in both Scotland and London. Jane was a BICA Executive Committee member in the early years of the organisation. She, therefore, has both broad and current understanding of the work of counsellors in the infertility field.

BICA would also like to thank Marilyn Crawshaw, who again undertook the editing of this Practice Guide. As always, she gave a great deal of her time and skill.

Marilyn too will be known to many of you. She is an academic and for many years has been an active member of BICA, PROGAR and of other linked organisations and committees concerned with the well-being of both those experiencing infertility and donor conceived children. Marilyn is also one of the editors of the recently published book “Adopting after Infertility.”
